Things Jesus NEVER Said…

So I’ve been away from my blog for a while (lots of driving and serving out of town). But while I’ve been away, I have done a lot of reading in the Gospels to see what Jesus says in order to learn what he is now saying to me.

While there is obviously A LOT he does say, I started to notice some of things he NEVER says but that we unfortunately all too often hear in our churches.

So here is a Top 10 List of Things Jesus Never Said…

10. “I Can’t…”

9. “I Won’t…”

8. “I’m Too Tired…”

7. “I Don’t Get Paid To…”

6. “It Doesn’t Really Matter…”

5. ”Ask Me Next Month…”

4. “Ask Me Next Year…”

3. “I Worked All Week…”

2. “It’s Just Too Early To Get Up…”

1. “I Quit…”

Thank GOD Jesus NEVER said, “Now that’s just asking WAY TOO MUCH.” So why do we as His Church, the people He DIED for, dare say these things back to Him. Maybe it’s because we aren’t nearly as souled out Him as He is to us.

And may God have mercy on our souls when we dare offer ourselves as more important than His Church and His Kingdom. When we look at Jesus and the assignment he endured, how could we ever think our petty excuses hold any merit?

So what is it Jesus is asking you to do that perhaps you need to put the excuses aside and just obey him? Because we can always serve him EVEN MORE!!

Freakonomics – Week 2

You know what they say, “Things are always better the second time around.” It will be no different with this week’s service…

You just thought week 1 was AWESOME, now its time for week 2. I promise you that this service will go down as our MOST MEMORABLE service to date!

the “How” behind the “What”…

All of us know WHAT we should be reading (THE BIBLE), but HOW we go about it is very interesting to me.

And I don’t really think God cares how we read through His Word, as long as we find a method that works for us so that we can spend time with Him on a consistent basis. So HOW does this work out for you…

1. Start in Genesis and read from cover to cover?

2. Pick 1 book of the Bible at a time and read all the way through?

3. Select an area of your life where you would like to grow and search for what the Bible says about those areas?

4. Good old “Drop and Flop” method where you read wherever you land?

5. Use of devotion books or study helps to get you started and stay focused?

6. Other…

I’m curious. As a Pastor who spends a lot of time in the Scripture, I’m always looking for fresh new ways to explore God’s Word and how to go about letting Him to speak to me through consistent time with Him.

So responses to this question will be greatly appreciated and hopefully thought provoking for you as well.

You never know, you may just find a new way to read the great old story!

3 Questions We Must Answer OVER and OVER again…

In order to reach the people we want, we must learn to THINK LIKE the people we want to reach. Asking these 3 questions will help us started…

1. Why should anyone come to our church?

2. How do they know we even exist?

3. What must they experience in order to come back again?

The way we answer these questions determines WHO shows up and WHY they come back.

Here at Revive Church, we are committed to answering these 3 questions on a regular basis to ensure we are reaching the people God has called us to reach, which for us are those who are far from God.

Therefore, we are always trying to think like an unchurched person…
