Official Weigh-In, Cont.

Last Friday, I mentioned that my father-in-law and I had a very friendly wager on the table for the person who could lose the most weight between our family vacation back in June and Gene’s Birthday on September 26. Well, Sept. 26 has come and gone, now it is time for the official results…

But it looks like we are extending the Weight Loss Challenge Official Weigh-In because my oh-so confident father-in-law can’t take losing on his birthday, therefore making HIM the one who carries ME out to eat!

Which should also give you some insight into who is currently winning at this stage in the game…

So for now, it looks like I will be the gracious son-in-law and give my father-in-law an extra two weeks to get the weight off. For all who are interested, make sure to check back on OCTOBER 15. And then, again, if for no other reason, the “preliminary” weigh-in at least gives me an opportunity to slow down a little bit so not to embarrass the man who brought my wife into the world. :)

Icecream, here we come!!!

People of Influence – Round 2

Several months ago, I started a series of posts listing several of the people in my life who are constantly having a positive influence on both my personal life and professional ministry.

Starting this week, I will be resuming this series, posting at least once a week in order to finish it out by the end of the year. In case you’re curious about where we’ve been and whose coming next, you can check out the original list posted here

And as always, please feel free to love on as many of these Pastors as you possibly can by leaving as many encouraging comments attached to each post. Let’s be the Church, let’s honor our leaders, and let’s build the Kingdom.

It’s time to share the love and spread the fun…

Official Weigh-In

Today is Friday, September 26, which means absolutely nothing to you except for the fact that is my Father-in-law’s birthday!

Which, again, probably doesn’t mean very much to those of you outside of the Sexton family except that today is the day…

Official Weigh-In Day for yours truly and Mr. “Mean” Gene Sexton. That’s right! We are weighing in today to see who is the official weight loss champion.

To bring you up to speed, Teresa’s Dad, “Geno,” and I made a bet this past June, while were finishing up our family vacation, to see who could lose the most weight by the time Gene’s birthday rolled around… now 3 months later.

“Mean” Gene, being his usual over confident self, raised the stakes stating that the loser has to carry the winner out to the restuarant of the winner’s choice. However, I’m certain that the over confidence on his part has come back to bite him because I know that after weigh-in today, there will be no doubt that I am the official weight loss champion.

I hate it for old Geno, but it looks like HE is going to be carrying ME out to eat on his own birthday!!! So what I’m saying is, “OUTBACK ANYONE?”

Official weigh in – 5:30 pm. Stay tuned to get the results…

Mountains

Read a great quote this morning and thought it was too valuable to not pass along…

Great things are done when man and mountains meet; These are not done by walking down the street.”

                              – Streams in the Desert.  L.B. Cowman

Very challenging insight if you happen to ask me! All too many times we find ourselves intimated by the mountains God places in our lives. And it is far too easy for us to want to back down, never scale the mountain, or just turn around only to walk away. Sadly, this is how so many people choose to live…

But I, on the other hand, want to face my mountains head on, seizing them as the perfect opportunity to be a catalyst for greatness. Because it is only when we scale the mountain that we can see the other side, something so many people will never get to see!

So where are you today… Crouching in fear of facing the mountain? Or ready to climb to its highest peak!
