Vacation Time!!!

This church planting journey God has us on has been a 2 year process, and the last 9 months have been non-stop action with many late nights, even more early mornings, and grueling hours in between.

So the time has come to get away…

Starting tomorrow morning, Teresa and I are taking off to the beach to spend the rest of the week relaxing, refreshing, and recuperating before we take on the grind of the leading our church through the Easter season and into the summer.

Revive Church is 8 weeks old and God is doing AMAZING THINGS within our midst.

Now is the time for us to enjoy where God has brought us and prepare for the next season God has in store for us in learning to lead a very young church.

So as of 9:00 pm tonight, the cell phone is off, the computer is shut down, and the vacation begins!!!

To all of you who love us so much, we’ll see you next week…

Leadership Round Table

Last Thursday, I had the privilege of hanging out with some incredible Pastors.

Pastor Greg OrahamFoothills Community Church in Seneca, SC.

Pastor Dean HermanFive Point Fellowship Church in Easley, SC.

Pastor Craig LeeFellowship Church in Baldwin, GA.

Pastor Mark BagwellGolden Corner Church in Walhalla, SC. aka. The God Father. He planted a church 16 years ago when it wasn’t cool to plant a church. Thank you Mark for paving the way for those of us who have now come behind you!

These men have all planted churches and been in ministry for several years, and we’ve only been going for 2 months now, so how I got invited to be a part of this is beyond me!

But I am SO HONORED to learn from each of these men who are still on the front lines, who have weathered the storms, and who God is now pouring out His blessings upon simply because of their faithfulness to Him.

Leadership is an incredible gift, created by God for the building of His Kingdom, and best used when it is passed on from one to another.  We’re meeting once a month and would love for you to add to the discussion.

Interested? Just let me know…

The Cost

Some of the buzz phrases in our church culture today is “whatever it takes” or “no matter the cost,” but I wonder if we fully understand the implications of our words when we examine the costs Jesus ask us to make.

This passage of Scripture probably didn’t win Jesus any popularity points, but it should definitely grab the attention of any one looking to follow Jesus with everything they have…

As they were walking along the road, a man said to him, “I will follow you wherever you go.” Jesus replied, “Foxes have holes and birds of the air have nests, but the Son of Man has no place to lay his head.”

He said to another man, “Follow me.”

But the man replied, “Lord, first let me go and bury my father.” Jesus said to him, “Let the dead bury their own dead, but you go and proclaim the Kingdom of God.”

Still another said, “I will follow you, Lord; but first let me go back and say good bye to my family.” Jesus replied, “No one who puts his hand to plow and looks back is fit for service in the Kingdom of God.” – Luke 9:57-62

What has God asked you to do? What excuses are you giving him?

Whats REALLY holding you back?

Lombardi on Leadership

Leadership rests not only upon ability, not only upon capacity; having the capacity to lead is not enough!

The leader must be willing to use it. His leadership is then based on truth and character. There must be truth in the purpose and will power in the character.

- Vince Lombardi

Are you as a leader more focused on ability and capacity OR truth and character?

Capacity may give us the opportunity, but character is what carries us through…

While You Were Away…

This week has been incredibly busy so the lack of blogging has been refreshing. We’ve had so many things going on this week that blogging needed to take a back seat, but here’s a tiny bit of eveything we’ve been working on…

1. Partnership Class THIS Sunday! First one and it should be fun. I love casting vision and seeing people buy in so here is our chance to make our stance.

2. Baby Dedication THIS Sunday! Again, first one and it should be fun. Here at Revive Church, children are not just the church of the future, but rather the church of today. And anytime we can remind people of this reality it is a great thing.

3. Welcome to the Jungle wraps THIS Sunday. This has been a GREAT SERIES for us and I really hate to see it end, but we are definitely going out with a bang (Revive Church style) and I can’t wait to see all God does through this week’s series finale.

4. Inked Series Begins NEXT Sunday! I am jacked up about this 2 week series. You simply can’t go wrong talking about Jesus and in the upcoming weeks are bringing it strong as we gear up for all God is going to do through this Easter season.

5. Baptism plans in the works for the upcoming weeks! This is WHY we do WHAT we do in order to see people who are dead in life ARISE in Christ. And nothing jacks me up like seeing people come up out of the waters of faith.

Of course we can’t tell you when its going to happen because that would spoil all fun we have planned. So it looks like you are just going to have to show up during the next few weeks to make sure you don’t miss out on all God is doing!

Thank you to everyone of you who pray for on a regular basis. God is doing incredible things and I am blown away by how He is moving right now.
