John 10

27 My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me. 28 I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one can snatch them out of my hand. 29 My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all; no one can snatch them out of my Father’s hand.

Within Jn. 10, Jesus refers to himself as the “Good Shepherd” & his followers as “sheep.”

Not sure that I like being called a sheep but if it’s coming from Jesus, then I know it’s warranted. Because unfortunately, like sheep, I can have a tendency to stray. And so can you!

In fact, Scripture goes on to say,

6 We all, like sheep, have gone astray, each of us has turned to his own way;” Isaiah 53

Even when we’re tempted to go astray, Jesus assures us that He is the Good Shepherd & no one can snatch us out of His hand.

The key is found in LISTENING TO HIS VOICE!!

He tells the unbelieving Jews that those who DO follow his leadership do 3 things:

1. They LISTEN to his voice.

2. They KNOW Him.

3. They FOLLOW Him.

It’s awfully hard to follow Jesus if we do not know him.

So how well do you know him today?

And it’s awfully hard to know Jesus if we do not listen to him.

So how well are listening to him today?

Find yourself being distracted from His voice? Do whatever it takes to remove the distraction from your life & fight with everything inside of you to listen to His voice!!

Need a hint: It’s starts with sitting still & shutting our mouth. (Psalm 46:10)
